Blogging via Dial-up

Signing in and blogging from home is so interminably slow, that I'm not really sure how folks stand it. I will not elaborate on where I usually post from (with its nice fast connection), but suffice it to say that I feel I *should* post from home, unless I can substitute blogging for tea or bathroom breaks, and well, I just can't. Although I think the "don't blog about work" rule is a very, very good one, I just have to say that I've been so busy lately that my resolution to post daily took a hit. But, I'm back, with about the same amount of insignificant drivel to comment on. (My God! Watching the words show up in the entry field a few seconds after I type is so surreal! How many years has it been since computers were generally that slow? I remember my best friend's Apple back in 1984, and this feels about the same.)

So, health has generally returned to my household, although the little girl is looking a bit crusty-nosed today, and I wonder if we just aren't on the leading edge of something cold-like. The next 24 hours will tell. I no longer hack up a lung every few hours, and I think my husband escaped the plague entirely. Good for him and his flu shot! Maybe I'll relent next year and get one. Chances are, though, that I'll forget how miserable I was few weeks ago, and decide to risk it once again.

But what to blog about? The girl has started pulling herself up, and the boy is perhaps less trying these days. (But am I a better mother? I'll leave that one unanswered). Lent is over, and my two resolutions were mildly successful, although I still need work on not using threats to gain compliance from the Boy. I would probably be a bit surly myself if I heard "Don't!" and No!" as much as he does. However, I don't think Lent (or God) requires perfection of us. In fact, if I understood the season correctly, it is that lack of perfection that is kind of the point. But anyway, it's to late for theology, and I didn't come prepared for the deep thought required of teasing out the lessons of Lent, salvation & imperfect parenting.

A bit of fun ... my Mother has taken to telling the Boy that the Easter Bunny resides in Africa. What part of the continent has yet to be determined, but if the North Pole works for Santa, then I certainly think the EB might dig South Africa.

And the little girl now crawls with her tongue sticking out of her mouth.

Also, DSL. Three little letters and a lot of speed (and expense).

Does she? That's so funny! I'll have to look. As for DSL, as soon as either one of us can support the expense with our blog revenues ... oh,wait, that was reality calling me.

The Easter Bunny must be a very sensible being. I'd rather live in South Africa than the North Pole. Well, climate-wise anyway ;)

Infinitely more sensible! I've visited north of the arctic circle, but I don't think I'd ever want to live there.
