Happy Birthday, Baby Girl

My baby is one year old today. I barely slept last night for the excitement of it all, which nicely mirrors my labor last year. Minus, of course, the 1 am emergency run to the hospital and the cesarean delivery that followed. I labored for 12 hours at home for a planned homebirth, but Miss T and her umbilical cord had other plans. My first memory of her is as she was brought to me by the midwife to nurse, and then she latched on, and stayed that way for about an hour. Now she won't stay still for an hour, even while sleeping.

Is there ever a more intense feeling than love for your child? My two have both brought me such perfect joy, and I am humbled by their presence.

So, Teija, here's to your first year. Gone too fast for your mama, but precious in every way. Life is one grand adventure for you, and I'm so happy to be a part of it.

Thanks! I try not to get all maudlin, but that first year ... how does it fly by so quickly? Luckily they just continue to get more interesting.
