I have a knitting confession to make. I hate knitting socks.
There. I've said it, and opened myself to the scorn of any dedicated knitter who happens to drop by my lonely site. I apologize, but it is the pure tedium of knitting another sock just like the one I just knit. Can you see why I make a lot of scarves? Shells are very appealing to me, and the baptism dress for my daughter had only two very small sleeves, thus limiting my opportunity to totally loose focus. I have made a few sweaters, but only with a break in between those endless sleeves.
So, it is with trepidation that I now am starting the other side of the Clementine Shawlette. I have been knitting this as a present for far too long now (over a year, and counting), but I admit I was dreading casting off one side, knowing what faces me. Now, I feel somewhat mollified in the knowledge that it's been a really long time since I started with the little tear-drop thingies, and I look forward to the novelty of them (again!). But after the tear-drops, and before the repeats that remind me of a dishcloth (and so it isn't so bad, really), are the increases.
I must finish this project. I so want to move on to something else, even though I still love the pattern, and like my alternate yarn choice. It's not for nothing that I affiliate with the word "dilettante."

socks are my favorite things to knit but I have to admit...sometimes the second sock is less appealing. This is why knitting 2 socks at once, toe up on a circular is the way to go for me.
Oh, that sounds so very excellent.I must try that. Any good tutorials or instructions you'd recommend?
Just the idea gives me knitting thrills up and down my spine. It's like reading about knitting fair isle (or any colorwork I suppose) by carrying the alternating colors in both the left and the right hands, and knitting in English and Continental styles *at the same time*.
I had to wake Steve out of a deep sleep one evening to explain how very cool that was. He didn't appreciate my enthusiasm.
I still have to fan myself a bit thinking about it now.
